We recently decided we wanted to be a part of the magic the Walt Disney World Resort offers. Just a five hour flight via Southwest Airlines, we arrived in Orlando and then a 20 minute drive to Lake Buena Vista, Florida where Walt Disney World Resort greeted us. The parks are located on nearly 40 square miles offering world-class entertainment and recreation destinations including four theme parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. There are also two water adventure parks: Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon along with 35 resort hotels, 63 holes of golf on four courses; two full-service spas; Disney’s Wedding Pavilion; ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex; and Downtown Disney, an entertainment-shopping-dining complex.
With limited time but eager to do as much possible, we decided to embark and visit Magic Kingdom. Similar to Disneyland in Anaheim but larger, you are greeted by Cinderella’s Castle which sits at the center of the park. First stop was to dine at Cinderella’s Royal Table in the castle with the Disney Princesses, an experience perfect for the princess of any age. Following we ventured and experience the six themed lands, Main Street, U.S.A, Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland and Liberty Square, reminiscent of a colonial town – a land Anaheim does not have. While many of the rides and park are similar to Anaheim, the park is much larger and creates its own unique experience.
The following day we ventured to Epcot, identified by its iconic Spaceship Earth geodesic sphere. We enjoyed a day of traveling around the world visiting 11 nations as well as experiencing a Future World. Each of these lands has a different experience to introduce you to the country, but our favorite was Maelstrom, the Norwegian Viking boat ride.
From fine dining and savoring food from different parts of the globe, to a spectacular firework show we had an unforgettable day. Continuing on our Disney excitement we went on to visit Disney’s Hollywood Studio where the glamour of Hollywood and Broadway-style shows awaited us.
We spent our final day with one amazing adventure after another between wild animals, exciting attractions including our favorite of the trip Expedition Everest, a roller coaster that takes up and then backwards down the Himalayas! A live action stage show Finding Nemo touched our hearts and a thrilling race back in time to prehistoric worlds completed the magical day.
Exhausted but happy to have worn our comfortable shoes, we could not help but leave with the feeling of excitement and knowing that dreams really do come true here making Walt Disney World a perfect ESCAPADITA.
