Scottsdale Travel is the perfect mix of beauty, relaxation, and adventure. Just an hour away from San Diego on a quick Southwest Airlines flight, Scottsdale welcomes visitors with warm desert air, endless sunshine, and a sense of calm.
When we landed at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, we rented a car and in just twenty minutes arrived at Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa. Built right into Camelback Mountain, the resort blends modern design with the natural desert landscape. From the moment we stepped in, the mountain views made us feel far from the everyday.
Our weekend escape began with the perfect stay at Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa. The architecture is stunning, and the rooms are designed to take full advantage of the surrounding desert. At dinner, we enjoyed fine dining from Food Network celebrity chef Beau MacMillan, who uses the freshest local ingredients. Eating while looking out over the desert at sunset was unforgettable.
Did you know Scottsdale has more spas per capita than any other U.S. city? The Sonoran Desert is believed to have healing powers, a fact known by Native American tribes long ago. We experienced it firsthand at the Sanctuary Spa. From reflexology to a citrus and lavender scrub, every treatment left us refreshed. In September, the spa also supports Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, donating part of its proceeds to fund early detection tests.
Scottsdale Travel is not only about spas and resorts—it’s also about exploring. A few highlights include:
Each activity offers a different way to experience the desert’s beauty.
Beyond our resort meals, Scottsdale offers amazing dining. Old Town has a mix of upscale restaurants, casual spots, and Southwestern flavors. Local favorites include wood-fired cuisine, modern Mexican dishes, and plenty of farm-to-table menus. Whether you want fine dining or street tacos, Scottsdale delivers.
With close proximity to San Diego, stunning desert views, five-star hospitality, countless spas, and endless activities, Scottsdale Travel is the ultimate weekend escape. We left feeling recharged, relaxed, and already planning our return.
