The Galapagos Islands are one of the most special places on Earth. This group of volcanic islands in the Pacific Ocean is home to unique animals, stunning landscapes, and a rich history. In fact, the Galapagos Islands were the first UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized in 1978. The islands became famous when Charles Darwin visited in 1835. His studies of the animals here helped shape the theory of evolution.
Our adventure began in Quito, Ecuador, the capital city, with the help of Boutique Travel Advisors. Quito is also a World Heritage Site. We explored its historic streets and even visited the Equator. Standing with one foot in the Northern Hemisphere and the other in the Southern Hemisphere was unforgettable!
From Quito, we flew to the Galapagos Islands to start our cruise. Our ship, the HX MS Santa Cruz II, felt like a comfortable home at sea. With space for only 90 guests, it gave us personal service and a close connection to nature. Every day, we joined naturalist-led excursions on small boats to see the islands up close.
Each island had its own look, climate, and animals.
Some islands were dry and rocky, while others were green and full of life.
The Galapagos Islands are like a living zoo without fences. We saw:
Every encounter felt magical and rare.
Our HX Expedition Cruise offered daily hikes, snorkeling, stargazing, and nature talks. The local guides made every trip special, sharing their knowledge of the islands and wildlife. Evenings on the ship were calm, with great food and time to relax.
You can visit the Galapagos Islands year-round.
The Galapagos Islands gave us the perfect mix of adventure, wildlife, and natural beauty. Each moment felt like stepping into another world. A trip here is more than a vacation—it’s an experience you will treasure forever.
