Norway is one of the most beautiful countries in Europe. It is filled with fjords, mountains, fishing villages, and the famous Northern Lights. From modern cities to wild landscapes, Norway offers endless adventures.
We began our journey in Oslo, the capital of Norway. The city is home to the new Munch Museum, which holds the largest collection of art by Edvard Munch. Oslo is a mix of modern design, history, and nature. You can enjoy parks, fjord views, and local food before starting your adventure deeper into Norway.
Next, we traveled on the Flam Railway, one of the steepest and most beautiful train rides in the world. The train winds through mountains, waterfalls, and valleys. It is one of the best ways to see the natural beauty of Norway.
From Flam, we boarded a fjord cruise. Sailing between high cliffs and waterfalls felt magical. The cruise took us along the Aurlandsfjord, one of Norway’s longest fjords, ending in the city of Bergen.
Bergen is Norway’s second-largest city. Its history goes back to the Viking Age. Today, visitors enjoy the colorful wooden houses by the water, fresh seafood markets, and museums like the KODE art collection. Bergen is also the perfect starting point for exploring more fjords.
Between September and March, Northern Norway is dark from afternoon until morning. This is the best time to see the Northern Lights. We flew to Tromsø, called the “Capital of the Arctic,” and rented a car. Driving through snowy mountains and forests, we finally saw the green lights dance across the sky—an unforgettable moment.
Our trip also took us to the Lofoten Islands. We visited Nusfjord, the oldest fishing village in Norway. The red cabins, once used by fishermen, are now cozy hotels over the rocky shore. The town has a small museum, sawmill, and even a cod-liver oil factory. Staying here felt like stepping back in time.
Norway is famous for fresh seafood like salmon and cod. Other local dishes include brunost (brown cheese), reindeer stew, and lefse (a soft flatbread). In the north, you can also learn about Sami culture, the Indigenous people of Norway.
From fjords and mountains to Northern Lights and fishing villages, Norway is a dream for adventure seekers. Stunning views, rich culture, and delicious food make it a trip of a lifetime. Norway truly is the perfect escape.
