0
Calling all climbers, hikers, fishermen, nature lovers, and adventurous spirits—Mount Hood, Oregon, is the perfect travel destination. Towering over 11,000 feet with 11 glaciers, pristine lakes, and breathtaking landscapes, this crown jewel of the Beaver State offers something for everyone.
During our recent trip, we embraced the crisp mountain air by hiking to Bridal Veil Falls, one of many stunning waterfalls in the area. The trails around Mount Hood range from challenging mountaineering paths to mellow hikes suitable for all skill levels. Popular trails include the Timberline Trail, Mirror Lake, and Ramona Falls, offering incredible views of the mountain and surrounding forests.
For those looking for a more relaxed adventure, there are plenty of opportunities for berry picking, visiting apple orchards, or fishing in the clear mountain rivers and streams.
Mount Hood is one of the only destinations in North America with year-round skiing. Resorts like Timberline Lodge, Mount Hood Meadows, and Ski Bowl cater to skiers and snowboarders of all levels. Whether you’re carving down snowy slopes or enjoying cross-country skiing, the mountain provides a winter wonderland experience.
A highlight of our trip was spending time at the Historic Timberline Lodge, famous not only for its cozy hospitality but also as an exterior filming location for The Shining. Nestled at the base of Mount Hood, the lodge offers a perfect mix of comfort and adventure, with easy access to hiking trails, ski slopes, and scenic viewpoints.
We also explored the nearby Columbia River Gorge, just a short drive from Mount Hood. The area offers spectacular waterfalls, river views, and opportunities for kayaking, biking, and nature photography.
Mount Hood is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse yourself in the subtle sounds and natural beauty of Oregon. Whether you’re chasing waterfalls, skiing the slopes, or simply enjoying a serene mountain sunset, Mount Hood promises an unforgettable ESCAPADITA.
