Allure of the Seas

The Allure of the Seas is one of Royal Caribbean’s most famous cruise ships and the largest passenger ship ever built. At 1,187 feet long, with room for over 6,000 guests, it feels like a floating city at sea.

I first saw the Allure at her homeport in Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale. Standing beside her, I was amazed by her size—bigger than most buildings and almost as tall as the Empire State Building. It was hard to believe something so massive could glide smoothly into ports across the Caribbean.

Quick Facts About Allure of the Seas

  • Length: 1,187 feet
  • Passengers: 6,318
  • Crew: 2,200+
  • Built: 2010
  • Neighborhoods: 7 themed areas
  • Dining: 25+ restaurants, including the first Starbucks at sea

Neighborhoods and Activities Onboard

One of the most surprising things about the Allure is that you never feel crowded. With seven themed neighborhoods, guests are spread out across the ship:

  • Central Park – A peaceful outdoor garden with real trees, flowers, and alfresco dining.
  • Boardwalk – A family-friendly zone with a carousel, AquaTheater diving shows, and casual restaurants.
  • Royal Promenade – The heart of the ship, filled with shops, bars, and cafes.
  • Pool and Sports Zone – Pools, whirlpools, a mini-golf course, two FlowRider surf simulators, and even a zip line.
  • Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center – A full gym, spa treatments, and a salon.
  • Entertainment Place – Broadway-style shows, ice skating, and a comedy club.
  • Youth Zone – Kids’ clubs, teen lounges, and fun programs for all ages.

I especially loved the Rising Tide Bar—a lounge that slowly moves between three decks as you sip your drink.

Dining on Allure of the Seas

Dining is one of the highlights of this ship. The grand Adagio Dining Room can seat more than 3,000 people at once, serving a wide variety of international dishes with excellent service.

Beyond the main dining rooms, there are over 20 specialty restaurants, from sushi to Italian, steak to casual bites. I even enjoyed my morning coffee at the world’s first floating Starbucks.

Entertainment

The entertainment onboard feels like being in a major city. I watched high-diving performances at the AquaTheater, ice-skating shows in the indoor rink, and Broadway musicals like Mamma Mia! All of it is included in the cruise.

At night, the Royal Promenade comes alive with parades, live music, and themed parties. There’s truly something for every age group.

Cabins and Suites

The ship offers everything from budget-friendly inside staterooms to luxury suites with private balconies. Families can book connecting rooms, while couples might enjoy ocean-view suites with hot tubs. My cabin was cozy yet modern, with plenty of storage and a balcony perfect for watching sunsets at sea.

Destinations and Itineraries

The Allure of the Seas sails both Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. Stops often include:

  • Cozumel, Mexico
  • Nassau, Bahamas
  • St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands
  • Labadee, Royal Caribbean’s private island in Haiti

While the destinations are exciting, I found that the ship itself was often the main attraction. With so much to do onboard, the ports felt like a bonus.

Why Choose Allure of the Seas?

Whether you want action-packed days or peaceful relaxation, this ship has it all. Families love the kids’ clubs and water activities. Couples enjoy the shows, dining, and nightlife. Groups can spread out and meet up in countless venues.

My personal experience was unforgettable—the Allure felt like both a city and a resort, all while sailing across turquoise waters.
