El Morro National Park

Puerto Rico is a Caribbean island full of history, beaches, and adventure. The best part? Since it’s a U.S. territory, you can enjoy a Puerto Rico vacation without needing a passport.

Explore San Juan’s Historic Charm

When I first walked through Old San Juan, I felt like I had stepped back in time. The cobblestone streets and colorful Spanish colonial buildings tell stories from over 400 years of history.

The highlight was visiting El Morro, a massive fortress built in 1539 to protect the island from pirates. Standing on its stone walls, with the ocean breeze and endless views, I understood why it’s one of Puerto Rico’s most famous landmarks.

Discover the Rainforest of El Yunque

Just outside the city, Puerto Rico shows another side—lush and green. I visited El Yunque National Forest, the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. Forest system.

Clouds wrapped around the mountaintops while waterfalls and rivers rushed below. I even heard the famous coquí frogs, the tiny creatures that sing every night. Hiking here was both refreshing and magical.

Relax at St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort

After exploring, I stayed at the St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort. Nestled between the rainforest and the Caribbean Sea, this luxury hotel offered pure relaxation. My room had a private terrace with stunning ocean views.

From the spa and golf course to the beachside pool, everything felt designed for comfort. The resort also meets high environmental standards, which made my stay even more meaningful.

Beaches, Food, and Culture

Of course, no Puerto Rico trip is complete without time on the beach. Flamenco Beach in Culebra is often ranked among the best in the world, with soft white sand and clear turquoise water. Closer to San Juan, Condado and Isla Verde are perfect for sunbathing, swimming, or trying water sports like snorkeling and surfing.

Food is another highlight. I tried mofongo, a Puerto Rican classic made from plantains, along with fresh seafood and locally grown coffee. The island is also famous for its rum, and tasting it where it’s made was unforgettable.

At night, Puerto Rico comes alive with music. Salsa dancing in San Juan is a must-try experience. The energy and rhythm of the island truly shine after dark.
