Diamond Celebration.

Disneyland has pulled out all the stops for this once-in-a-lifetime Diamond Celebration. When you visit the parks, you will have fun and make memories like never before with all-new evening spectaculars, sparkling décor and much more. Ever since Disneyland Park opened on July 17, 1955, the Disneyland Resort has been an unforgettable destination for families, and now 60 years later, the original magic is still there, but there is so much more to enjoy.

We visited and enjoyed a couple of days of festivities, soaking up the sights and being amazed by all the new additions. The iconic jewel of Sleeping Beauty Castle has been transformed with hundreds of thousands of diamonds and crystals that glimmer in the day and are illuminated with lights at night. The new Main Street Electrical Parade- Paint the Night features 1.5 million lights, which is followed by the Disneyland Forever fireworks show that will mesmerize you with a combination of fireworks and projections on the Castle, Main Street, Matterhorn and Small World! Richard M. Sherman, the same man who wrote so many Disney classics including Mary Poppins, wrote the finale song.

In honor of Disneyland’s 60th anniversary there is also an all-new World of Color – Celebrate! We enjoyed the opening night hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and Mickey Mouse. The show features a combination of 1,200 fountains, projectors, lasers and pyrotechnic surprises that will keep you singing and laughing as memories, old and new, tug at your heart.

The park has had some exciting additions and new magic- Matterhorn Bobsleds is now inhabited by an even more terrifying Yeti, the Haunted Mansion welcomes back the Hatbox Ghost not seen since 1969 and Peter Pan’s Flight will enjoy new effects and touches.

The lodging has also seen great changes and is ready to welcome you whether at Disneyland Hotel with the themed suites, or where we stayed overnight at the luxurious Grand Californian Hotel and Spa. With our park ticket, we took advantage of Extra Magic and enjoyed early admission through a convenient entrance directly to Disney’s California Adventure. At the end of a long day, we enjoyed fine dining at Napa Rose, their award-winning restaurant.

It is a celebration so big; one day simply is not enough to enjoy everything making it a perfect ESCAPADITA.
